NEW! Homeless Alerts
Today, I’m happy to announce a feature that doesn‘t clean your database, but it does allow you to better be the church to your community. Homeless alerts.
Vision
One of the many things that makes me proud to be a Christian alongside of you is our commitment to loving people. When somebody is hurting, God is hurting, and because we have His heart, we hurt as well.
At my Church, we don’t view PCO as a database or CRM, it’s a ministry tool. We don’t want it to simply house profiles…we want it to help us identify ministry opportunities.
How it Works
We’ve noticed that sometimes people will put “homeless” in the address field of PCO. With this new feature, you will receive an e-mail alert with the link to the profile. From there, you can make contact, refer them to a partner organization, or whatever you do as part of your outreach vision.
The e-mail looks like this:
In addition, we record the information in the Clean My PCO custom tab. This allows you to make a PCO list and search for the word, “homeless” in the list conditions. Here’s what a list might look like:

This is all you need if you just want to add them to your prayer list. If you want to make contact them, here’s what a list might look like where you only show people that have contact information:

My standard disclaimer: These are just screenshots to get you started. You might say, “but what if they’re staying at a shelter and list the shelter address? Shouldn’t we check for that?”
You can certainly add an address field rule. You could also make the list campus specific if you have outreach ministries at each location.
Of course, you can turn this feature off in the Options tab if you would like. We have turned it on for all accounts by default.
Wrap Up
The vision of Clean My PCO isn’t just to “clean up” your “database.” We want to find ways to help you use PCO to do ministry better. If you have other ideas, like this, that we can investigate, please e-mail us. We would love to hear from you.
